The Baltimore Police Department has arrested a 47-year-old man involved in an attempted murder last week.

According to a press release, officers were called to the 1400 block of E. Fayette Street at around 4:45 a.m. on June 27 in response to a shooting. Upon arrival, they found a 48-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

During their investigation, detectives found video footage of the alleged shooter and identified him as Baltimore resident Joel Lewis.

Nearly two weeks later, on July 6, Lewis, 47, returned to the site of the shooting wearing the same clothes he wore the day of the incident. Officers arrested Lewis and took him to the Eastern District police station, where he waived his rights and was interviewed.

Lewis was charged with attempted first-degree murder and is being held at central booking until he can see a court commissioner.
