Person of Interest in Custody for McHenry Street Murder

On Oct. 2, at approximately 9:49 p.m., Southwest District patrol officers responded to the 2500 block of McHenry Street to investigate discharging of a firearm.

Upon arrival, Baltimore Police Department officers located a 20-year-old male victim who was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to the head. The victim was transported to an area hospital, listed in critical condition. Due to the severity of his injuries, homicide detectives have taken over the investigation. 

A person of interest has been taken into custody.

Update: The victim was pronounced deceased on Oct. 3. On Oct. 7, BPD announced the victim was Tavin Cooper.
