A 24-year-old Gwynn Oak resident was denied bail for attempted murder charges after he was accused of shooting his mother’s attacker in June.
On Sept. 17, defense attorney Robert Cole said that his client, Jamal Dunham, was working at his mother’s catering business when she was attacked during an argument on June 28, 2024. The defendant’s mother pressed charges against her alleged attacker, which Cole said led the attacker to identify Dunham as the shooter “in retaliation.”
In addition to attempted murder, Dunham is also facing assault and numerous weapons charges.
The prosecution countered that there were “multiple consistent accounts of the shooting” once the argument had ceased. The defendant allegedly asked, “Who banked my mother?” before opening fire, she said.
Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Jeffrey M. Geller denied Dunham’s bail, saying there were no reasonable conditions for the defendant’s release.
