A 22-year-old Woodmere man was convicted in Baltimore City Circuit Court for his participation in a drive-by shooting death.
Wesley Lambert was found guilty by a jury of two counts of first-degree murder, firearm use in a felony violent crime and having a handgun in a vehicle on May 10 for the death of 20-year-old Amare Burruss.
Counsel conceded that Burruss fired first in the Dec. 7, 2022, shootout between himself, Lambert and Lambert’s co-defendants, Garry Morris and Darrean Fleming. In opening statements before Judge John A. Howard, defense attorney Hunter Pruette said Burruss fired at least 12 times at Fleming and Morris on the 4400 block of Park Heights Avenue.
District Court of Maryland documents state surveillance footage captured all three defendants getting into an Acura and following Burruss to the 4200 block of Pimlico Road, where he sustained a single gunshot wound to the head and died.
Lambert’s sentencing has not yet been scheduled.
