Judge Schedules Trial for Defendant Accused in 2020 S. Morley Street Murder Case

On Feb. 21, Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland scheduled a homicide defendant’s trial for August after the prosecutor stated issues with evidence had been resolved.

The assistant state’s attorney assigned to the case said defendant George Pullett’s trial was initially scheduled for January before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Erik Atas; however, at that time, the defendant stated he wanted a new defense counsel in addition to a mental health evaluation.

Judge Copeland made it known she would not discharge his defense counsel Augustine Okeke until he had another attorney.

Pullett, 59, is charged with first-degree murder, two counts of the use of a firearm during a felony violent crime, first and second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, and possession of a firearm with a felony conviction in connection to the murder of 54-year-old Randolph Watson and the injury of a 55-year-old woman on May 21, 2020.

According to court documents, on the day of the incident, officers were called to the 100 block of S. Morley Street for reports of a shooting. On arrival, officers found two victims with gunshot wounds; one of the victims was a woman with a gunshot to her torso, and the second victim, Watson, was found unresponsive with a gunshot to his head and back.

Pullet’s trial was scheduled for Aug. 28. It is expected to last five days.
