On March 2, Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn scheduled a 28-year-old homicide for trial in November.
Nelson McNorton is charged with first-degree murder, first-degree assault, having a handgun on his person, three counts of attempted armed robbery, and three counts of use of a firearm during a violent crime in connection to an incident on Oct. 10, 2019.
Initially, McNorton was offered a plea deal on June 28, 2021, of life suspending all but 60 years, with five years of supervised probation for first-degree murder, which was rejected by his defense attorney, Thomas Rafter.
According to the Baltimore Sun, McNorton allegedly shot and killed 24-year-old Antonio Modica on the 1900 block of W. Pratt Street on Oct. 10, 2019.
McNorton’s trial is scheduled for Nov. 2.
