A 26-year-old woman was released on home detention on Aug. 12 after being accused of firing a gun in the air during an argument with her neighbors.
Gloreca Bailey appeared in Baltimore City Circuit Court before Judge Charles Blomquist on Friday when the prosecution informed the court of video evidence of the incident that occurred on June 19. As Bailey and her neighbors were arguing, the defendant went inside her home, retrieved a handgun, and then returned outside, allegedly firing it in the air, the prosecutor said.
Bailey also told Baltimore Police Department officers that she didn’t have a gun; however, police found the gun in question inside her home after executing a search warrant, the prosecutor continued.
The defendant is charged with six counts of assault, three counts of reckless endangerment, and three firearms charges.
Defense attorney Marianne Lima emphasized that Bailey has no prior convictions and that the prosecution had not shown how the defendant “poses any future danger.”
Judge Blomquist agreed with defense counsel and pre-trial services’ recommendation to release the defendant to home detention.
Bailey is next scheduled to appear in court for an arraignment on Aug. 15.
