Baltimore City Circuit Judge Melissa K. Copeland on April 10 postponed Tyrone Bennett‘s trial. He’s accused in the murder of Donte Long, 51, on Dec. 16, 2023.
According to charging documents, at approximately 5:33 p.m., police responded to the 1300 block of Bradford Street and located Long suffering from a gunshot wound to his left hip. Despite lifesaving measures, Long was pronounced deceased at 9:29 p.m.
Police then canvassed the area and recovered video surveillance footage that captured an unknown man and woman approaching Long. The man was seen producing a firearm and shooting Long.
Using video evidence and cellphone data, law enforcement was allegedly able to identify Bennett as the suspect. Officials executed a search warrant at Bennett’s home and seized a jacket similar to the one worn by the suspect in the video.
Bennett is set for a four-day jury trial beginning Sept. 24 before Judge Copeland.
