A Baltimore City Circuit Court judge postponed the sentencing of a man found guilty of his roommate’s murder late last year after learning the defendant was hospitalized.
In December 2022, 51-year-old Lamont Mealy was found guilty of the fatal shooting of his roommate, Andrew Wilson, during a physical confrontation inside their apartment on the 700 block of Whitelock Street on Aug. 5, 2020. Mealy was scheduled for sentencing on Feb. 16 for first-degree murder, two weapons charges, and making a false statement to a police officer.
During Thursday’s hearing, defense attorney Sharon May and the prosecution informed Judge M. Brooke Murdock that Mealy was hospitalized at the University of Maryland Medical Center for unknown reasons. Both parties agreed to return on March 22 when May said she will also argue a motion for a new trial.
