On April 15, Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland presided over a homicide case relating to the Aug. 16, 2023, murder of 24-year-old Nykiah Collins on the 1000 block of West Baltimore Street.
Cedaria Luckey, 25, is charged with second-degree murder, firearm use in a felony violent crime and having a loaded handgun on her person.
The assistant state’s attorney put forth two offers. The first was an aggregate sentence of 60 years, suspending all but 20 years, with the first five years without the possibility of parole and five years of probation upon release for second-degree murder and having a loaded handgun on her person.
The second offer was for the same charges, and it consisted of an aggregate sentence of 30 years straight, with the first five years without the possibility of parole and no probation. Defense attorney James Sweeting III rejected both offers on behalf of his client.
Luckey’s trial is scheduled to start on Aug. 5 and span four days.
A Baltimore Police Department press release states Luckey, a Baltimore County resident, was arrested for the murder on Sept. 23, 2023.
