Homicide co-defendants’ had their trial rescheduled on Feb. 22 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn.
Baltimore residents Gary Watkins, 57, and Dante Gregg, 20, are charged with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, conspiracy to first-degree murder, and use of a firearm during a violent crime in connection to an incident that occurred on Feb. 7, 2020.
The trial was slated to begin on Feb. 22 but was postponed due to the suspension of jury selection with the rise of COVID-19 cases.
Watkins and Gregg were represented by defense attorney John Cox.
According to CBS Baltimore, around 5:12 p.m. on Feb. 7 officers were called to the 300 block of Mason Court for reports of shots being fired. They found 25-year-old Devante Smith suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his torso.
The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he later died. A 23-year-old woman was also shot. She suffered from non-life-threatening injuries.
The defendants’ trial is scheduled for Oct. 4.
