Gwynn Oak Avenue Attempted Murder Defendant Gets May Trial Date

On Feb. 29, attempted murder defendant Lance Hickman received a new trial date from Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland.

Hickman, 29, is charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder, firearm use in a felony violent crime, first- and second-degree assault, having a handgun in his vehicle, having a loaded handgun in his vehicle, having a handgun on his person, having a loaded handgun on his person and firing a gun in Baltimore City. He is also facing conspiracy charges for first- and second-degree assault, first-degree murder, and firearm use in a felony violent crime. 

Additionally, he is charged with firearm possession with a felony conviction, illegal possession of ammunition, reckless endangerment, and two counts of illegal possession of a regulated firearm. 

After rejecting a plea offer, in October 2023, Hickman and his defense Maureen O’Leary were originally set for trial on Feb. 27, but the trial was postponed. Judge Copeland rescheduled the trial to begin on May 7.

According to a 2023 Baltimore Police Department press release on May 23, investigators arrested Hickman for allegedly shooting a 31-year-old male on May 8 on the 5100 block of Gwynn Oak Avenue.
