On Aug. 28, a Baltimore City Circuit Court judge postponed a trial for an attempted murder defendant do to his attorney being unavailable.
Defendant Tyqwaun Kells was scheduled to start trial on Monday, but defense attorney Josh Insley did not appear on court.
Judge Melissa M. Phinn postponed the 21-year-old defendant’s trial until Dec. 5 before Judge Dana M. Middletown.
According to court documents issued but the District Court of Maryland, on Oct. 19, 2022, Northern District patrol officers with the Baltimore Police Department were dispatched to 1400 block of Dellwood Avenue for reports of a discharging.
Witnesses later reported to officers that they witnessed two men fighting to the ground shortly before the shooting.
John Hopkins Hospital later notified officers of a walk-in shooting victim. Officers were also called once Kells arrived with a gunshot wound as well.
Kells was later identified through video surveillance footage to be involved in the shooting incident.
The defendant is charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, discharging firearms, use of a firearm in a felony violent crime and having a handgun on his person.
