Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn scheduled a homicide trial to begin in early June.
Deamonte Spencer, 29, is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, 2 counts of firearm use during a felony-violent crime and illegal possession of a firearm for his alleged involvement in the murder of 25 year-old Kamira Jeter and 22 year-old Leah Jeter on the100 block of South Kossuth Street on Dec. 20, 2020.
During reception court Wednesday, Judge Phinn scheduled the trial to occur from June 1-June 7, 2022.
The trial was schedule after Spencer and his defense attorney, Stephen Tully, rejected the prosecution’s plea agreement. The terms of the agreement included a prison term of life for both counts of first-degree murder, with the second count being served concurrently.
Spencer also declined to waive his Feb. 5, 2022 Hick’s date, which is his right to be tried within 180 days of his first court appearance.
According to Tully, he still has a lot of evidence to review in the case.
