Defendant Pleads Guilty to Accessory Charge in 2023 Homicide

Tyrell White, 21, is set to plead guilty to being an accessory after the fact in the May 20, 2023 homicide of Sean Brown. The decision comes after a sentencing hearing on Jan. 23, during which Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge John Addison Howard amended White’s original first-degree murder charge as part of a plea agreement.

Under the terms of the agreement, White faces the maximum penalty of ten years in prison with the possibility of parole. Should White fail to meet the conditions of the plea, he would face the original first-degree murder charge.

The amended charge follows White’s admission of assisting Cahari Ferguson, the primary suspect in the homicide. White acknowledged his conscious role in the crime and waived his right to a jury trial.

Cellular analysis and cell site mapping placed White and Ferguson near the crime scene on the evening of the crime. Furthermore, White confessed to helping dispose of Brown’s backpack and credit card following the incident. Ferguson, facing first-degree murder charges, is accused of stabbing Brown 23 times.

White’s final disposition hearing is set for June 25 at 9 a.m.
