On April 3, a Baltimore resident pleaded guilty to two separate charges against him before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Erik Atas.

Deaira Roary, and his defense counsel Robert Ness, accepted a plea of 20 years, suspending all but seven years with the first five years without the possibility of parole and four years of supervised probation for attempted armed robbery, and a concurrent five years for possession of a firearm with a felony conviction in connection that also involved his co-defendant Destiny Nickelson.

The incident occurred on June 4, 2022, at the 2000 block of Maryland Avenue. The defendants were found to be shooting at the victim, who happened to be the defendant’s brother, over an argument that happened the night before. Before the shooting occurred, the victim was put into a headlock while one of the defendants went into his pockets and stole multiple valuables.

On April 4, Nickelson, 34, who was represented by Bradley MacFee, accepted a plea of 30 years, suspending all but seven years for second-degree attempted murder and 20 years, suspending all but five years without the possibility of parole and five years of supervised probation for conspiracy to use a firearm during a felony violent crime. All charges are set to run concurrently.

Judge Atas has scheduled Nickelson’s next hearing for Aug. 4.
