Defendant Charged in 2022 W. North Avenue Non-Fatal Shooting Case Gets Trial Date

A 31-year-old accused of being involved in a non-fatal shooting on the 1900 block of Braddish Avenue appeared before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn during reception court on July 25. 

Defendant Obadiah Malone rejected the plea that the prosecutor assigned to the case offered: 90 years suspending all but 46 with the first five without the possibility of parole and five years of probation served consecutively. 

Judge Phinn set the trial date for Dec. 18 before Judge Jeannie J. Hong

Malone is charged with first-degree attempted murder, second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, use of a firearm in a felony violent crime, reckless endangerment, possessing a firearm with a felony conviction, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, possession of a firearm with a drug conviction, illegal possession of ammunition, having a loaded handgun on person, having a loaded handgun in a vehicle and discharging a firearm.

According to Southwest District patrol officers with the Baltimore Police Department, on Oct. 10, 2022, at approximately 8:43 p.m., officers responded to a report of gunfire on the 2700 block of W. North Avenue, where they found five shell casings and a trail of blood.

A detective met with the victim at the hospital, who identified Malone as the shooter.
