Defendant Accepts Plea in 2022 Pennsylvania Avenue Non-Fatal Shooting Case

The defendant in the 2022 1800 Pennsylvania Avenue non-fatal shooting accepted a plea in Baltimore City Circuit Court before Judge Althea M. Handy on June 21.

During Wednesday’s proceeding, Tysean Demone Brown, 19, accepted a plea offer of three years suspending all but one year for having a handgun on his person, a consecutive five years suspending time served for possession of a firearm as a minor, and a concurrent one year for discharging a firearm, the plea also includes five years of probation, the first three of which are supervised. The defendant will serve a total of one year that started on Aug. 15 2022.

Brown was charged with three counts each of first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, firearm use in a felony violent crime, having a handgun on his person, having a loaded handgun in his vehicle, possession of a firearm as a minor, discharging a firearm, and disturbance in connection to an incident on Aug. 6, 2022.

Charging documents state that Brown got into an argument with three men at the intersection of the 1800 block of Pennsylvania Avenue and the 600 block of Laurens Street. The men pulled out guns; Brown allegedly pulled out his gun and fired a single round in response. The incident was captured on closed-circuit cameras and the footage shows the men firing back at Brown.

No one was injured in the incident.

In addition to his sentence and probation, Brown must also stay away from the area where the shooting happened.

The defendant was represented by attorney Kenneth Man during the proceeding.
