Case Postponed due to Prosecutor’s Medical Leave

A hearing for an attempted murder defendant was postponed July 22 because the prosecutor assigned to the case was not present due to a medical leave. The prosecutor’s return is unknown at this time. 

Ronald Gray, 21, is being charged with attempted first and second-degree murder, first and second-degree assault, use of a firearm during a violent crime, reckless endangerment, possession of a firearm as a minor, having a loaded handgun on his person, discharging firearm within Baltimore city and having a handgun on his person in connection to the shooting of a 47-year-old man. 

Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn said she wants Gray’s case reassigned because the case does not have a prosecutor. 

Defense attorney Creston Smith asked about the status of the outstanding bail hearing motion filed on May 3. According to the defense they haven’t received any updates. 

The bail motion was declined.

According to CBS Baltimore, on Sept. 12, 2021, officers were called to the 2800 block of Pulaski Highway for reports of a shooting. They found a 47-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. 

An argument preempted the shooting, said police. Gray was arrested that same day.

Gray’s next hearing is scheduled for July 25.
