A Baltimore man convicted in the killing of his 25-year-old roommate, Demetris Henry, earlier this summer was sentenced to 60 years in prison on Aug. 19.
Jonathan Lee Bowman was found guilty of second-degree murder, firearm use in a felony violent crime and having a handgun on his person on June 14 after a week-long jury trial. The fatal shooting occurred just before 8:30 a.m. along the 3400 block of Fairview Avenue on April 24, 2021.
On Friday morning, the 26-year-old defendant and his defense attorney, Koryn High, appeared in court before Judge Charles Blomquist, who sentenced Bowman to 40 years in prison for second-degree murder, a consecutive 20 years for firearm use during a felony violent crime, and a concurrent three years for having a handgun on his person.
According to charging documents, Bowman was temporarily living with Henry in an apartment in Forest Park when the defendant shot the victim during a verbal dispute. Henry was later pronounced dead at Sinai Hospital, followed by Bowman’s arrest more than two months later.
