A Baltimore man accused of attempted murder rejected a plea of 8 years, with two years of supervised probation, on March 29 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn

During Tuesday’s court proceedings, Antone Towson and his defense attorney, Koryn High rejected a plea of 15 years, suspending all but 8 years, with two years supervised probation for first-degree assault, and a concurrent five years without parole for use of a firearm during a violent crime.

Under the plea, the defendant would have had to register as a gun offender and stay away from the victim.

Towson is charged with first and second-degree attempted murder, first and second-degree assault, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, illegal possession of ammo, having a handgun on his person, discharging firearms, reckless endangerment, and use of a firearm during a violent crime in connection to an incident on July 9, 2021.

According to CBS Baltimore, around 12:30 a.m., officers were called to the 3100 block of West North Avenue for reports of a shooting. While police collected evidence and searched for potential victims, witnesses, and suspects, 28-year-old Towson and Tyree Reynolds reportedly walked into nearby hospitals to treat gunshot wounds.

Earlier this year, on Jan. 11, Reynolds was denied bail after he was released on his own recognizance for a separate handgun charge at the time of the shootout in July 2021 when he and Towson allegedly chased the victim into New York Fried Chicken on W. North Avenue.

Towson’s trial is scheduled for Aug. 29 with Judge Jennifer B. Schiffer presiding.
