On Dec. 20, Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn scheduled the trial date for a man charged with a fatal shooting on July 8.

Neil Cole-El, 56, is charged with first-degree murder, firearm use in a felony violent crime and illegal possession of a regulated firearm in connection to the death of 52-year-old Cynceray Washington-Greene in July.

At this time, the prosecution had no plea offer for Cole-El as they are still going over documents related to the case. The prosecution did say that an offer would be made as soon as they reviewed all of the information.

Defense attorney Deborah Levi joined the hearing via Zoom. When it came to setting a trial date, the prosecution originally suggested April 1, 2024. However, Levi explained that she would not be able to be present for the entire trial.

After some discussion, the two parties agreed on a date of April 8, 2024, in front of Judge Yolanda A. Tanner.

According to a Baltimore Police Department (BPD) press release , on July 8 BPD officers  arrived at the 2800 block of Clifton Park Terrace after a call about a shooting. Once there, they found Washington-Greene suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. She was transported to a local hospital where she later died as a result of her injury. Officers identified Cole-El as a suspect in the murder and took him in for questioning.
