Attempted Murder Trial Results in Hung Jury

A mistrial was declared in an attempted murder case after the jury was unable to render a verdict on Aug. 9 before Baltimore City Circuit Judge Jeannie J. Hong 

Juan Jumal Foster, 44, is charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder, first-degree assault, reckless endangerment, firearm use in a felony violent crime, firearm possession with a felony conviction, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, possession of a firearm in a controlled dangerous substance offense, having a handgun on his person, having a handgun in his vehicle and discharging firearms for an incident that occurred on May 11, 2022. 

Foster was represented by Derrick Hamlin in the five day proceeding.

According to testimony from the trial, the incident occurred on the 3800 block of Tivoly Avenue, where the victim was shot in the left thigh from a car. 

The five-day retrial is scheduled for Dec. 10.
