On Dec. 7, Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Jennifer B. Schiffer scheduled a trial for a 42-year-old attempted murder defendant after he rejected the plea agreement offered by the prosecution.
Lance Rogers is charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, firearm use in a felony violent crime, firearm possession with a felony conviction, having a loaded handgun on his person, discharging a firearm within Baltimore City, carrying a handgun within 100 yards of the public and illegal possession of ammunition in connection with an incident on April 30.
The prosecution offered Rogers a plea of 35 years for attempted first-degree murder to run concurrently with both a 20 year sentence, the first five years of which is without the possibility of parole, for firearm use in a felony violent crime and five years without parole for firearm possession with a felony conviction. The parole terms would be added, for a total of the first 10 years without parole. Rogers would also be required to register as a gun offender upon release.
Defense attorney Jessica Rubin, who stood in for Tony Garcia, rejected this offer on Rogers’ behalf.
Judge Schiffer set Rogers’ trial date for April 22, 2024.
