Attempted Murder Defendant Receives New Trial Date

Attempted murder defendant Kenneth Oakley appeared before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland on April 3 to receive a new trial date for his alleged involvement in a 2022 incident on the 1300 block of Edison Highway. 

Oakley, 41, is represented by Michael Lawlor. He is charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, firearm use in a felony violent crime, reckless endangerment, firearm possession with a felony conviction, possession of firearms in a controlled dangerous substance offense, having a loaded handgun on his person, having a handgun on his person, illegal possession of ammunition and discharging firearm.

Oakley’s trial was set in the courtroom of Judge Robert K. Taylor, Jr. but due to scheduling conflicts, Judge Taylor was not available. In addition, the assistant state’s attorney was out sick. 


Oakley’s new trial is set to take place in front of Judge Lawrence P. Fletcher-Hill on Aug. 26 through Aug. 31. There will be three separate trials taking place back to back.
