On Feb. 28, Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland set a trial date for 46-year-old Alphonso Ward.
Ward is charged with first-degree murder and possession of a deadly weapon with the intent to injure in connection to the fatal stabbing of 41-year-old Kevin Miller.
The prosecution offered Ward a plea deal of life, suspending all but 60 years, followed by five years of probation for the charge of first-degree murder.
Ward rejected this offer.
Judge Copeland set a trial date for July 23. It is expected to last four days in front of Judge Lynn Stewart Mays. Ward will appear with his attorney Marci T. Johnson.
According to a Baltimore Police Department press release, Miller was killed on the 1600 block of Ramsay Street on Oct. 13, 2023.
