On Feb. 21, counsel presented opening statements before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Anthony F. Vittoria regarding the murder of 21-year-old Caron McCaskill

Isaiah Bell, 21, faces charges of first-degree murder and firearm use in a felony violent crime for allegedly shooting McCaskill near Busy Bee’s Convenience Mart on the 300 block of South Monroe Street on April 19, 2022.

During opening statements, the prosecution claimed that an eyewitness to the crime had identified Bell as the suspect from a photo lineup. The eyewitness allegedly observed Bell and McCaskill arguing over a gun, heard several gunshots and then saw McCaskill collapse inside the store.

According to Bell’s defense attorney, Andrea Jaskulsky, there is no physical evidence to prove that Bell was at the store at the time of the incident.

The trial is expected to continue over the next several days.
