On Oct. 27, 2023, at approximately 4:08 p.m., Northern District patrol officers responded to an area hospital in reference to the death of a baby.
Once there, Baltimore Police Department officers spoke with medical personnel, who informed officers that 13-month-old Messiah Heggie was pronounced deceased shortly after arriving at the hospital.
The victim’s body was transported to the Medical Examiner’s office for autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.
On Feb. 16, doctors ruled the death to be a homicide due to drug poisoning.
