On Nov. 17, Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa K. Copeland scheduled the trial date for a defendant charged with attempted murder.
Ahmad Moulden, 36, is charged with attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, firearm use in a felony violent crime, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, having a loaded handgun on his person, having a handgun on his person and discharging firearms in relation to an incident on July 10, 2022.
Moulden had previously been in and out of mental health court, in an effort to determine his competency to stand trial. In his last appearance on May 3, he was found both criminally responsible and competent to stand trial.
The morning began with Moulden present, but his attorney, Granville Templeton, was not initially. Once arrived the case proceeded with a plea offer made by the stand-in prosecutor.
This deal included life, suspending all but 30 years, for attempted first-degree murder, life, suspending all but 30 years, with five years of supervised probation and no contact with the victim for attempted second-degree murder and 10 years, the first five without the possibility of parole, for firearm use in a felony violent crime. This final sentence is to run concurrent with the prior two.
Templeton rejected the offer on behalf of Moulden as he wished to proceed to schedule a trial date.
Judge Copeland scheduled Moulden’s trial to begin on March 13, 2024, in front of Judge Jennifer B. Schiffer.
