Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Lawrence P. Fletcher-Hill granted the defense’s motion for judgment of acquittal on Aug. 5, clearing Absolon Castillo-Martinez of all charges.
Castillo-Martinez, 27, was represented by defense attorney Lawrence Rosenberg. He faced two counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree assault, reckless endangerment and firearm use in a felony or violent crime.
The charges stemmed from a July 31, 2025, shooting near the 300 Block of N. Robinson St. and Pulaski Highway. Prosecutors alleged that surveillance footage showed a man firing multiple rounds at a vehicle before fleeing and argued that Castillo-Martinez was the shooter.
Rosenberg challenged the State’s identification of his client. He told the court that the two victims had identified other individuals as the shooter and questioned why neither victim was called to testify for the prosecution.
Judge Fletcher-Hill later granted the defense’s motion and acquitted Castillo-Martinez on all counts. .
