An Annapolis man currently serving 25 years for a robbery-related assault in Anne Arundel County was offered a plea of 35 years in prison on Oct. 19 for his involvement in an armed robbery turned attempted murder in Baltimore City in May 2022.

During Thursday’s reception court in Baltimore City Circuit Court, 26-year-old De’Lass Reid was offered a plea of 20 years for armed robbery and a consecutive 15 years, the first five years without parole, for firearm use in a felony or violent crime stemming from an incident on May 17, 2022. The prosecutor informed Judge Melissa M. Phinn this plea would run consecutively with the defendant’s current sentence for another incident on June 11, 2022, in Annapolis.

Reid’s defense counsel, Augustine Okeke, was in trial and not present for Thursday’s hearing; however, defense attorney Janet Andersen stood in his place. Judge Phinn agreed to return the defendant to reception court on Nov. 20 to give him time to discuss the offer with his counsel.

According to the Maryland Judiciary website, Reid accepted a plea of 25 years for first-degree assault in December 2022 in the Circuit Court of Anne Arundel County for a robbery and shooting in June 2022. The defendant was later charged for an incident in Baltimore City that occurred a month earlier.

Reid is facing Baltimore charges of attempted first and second-degree murder, first and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, armed robbery, robbery, theft between $100 and $1,500, firearm use in a felony or violent crime, having a loaded handgun on his person, intentionally discharging a firearm, carrying handgun within 100 yards of a public place and firearm possession with a felony conviction.
