Judge Sets Trial Date for Attempted First-Degree Murder Defendant

On Oct. 19, Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn scheduled Myles Edwards trial. Edwards, 29, is being represented by Jason Rodriguez.

Edwards is charged with attempted first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, first-degree assault, conspiracy to commit first-degree assault, second-degree assault, conspiracy to commit second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, firearm use in a felony violent crime, conspiracy to use a firearm in a felony violent crime, firearm possession with a felony conviction, having a loaded handgun on his person, having a handgun in a vehicle, having a handgun in a vehicle on a public road, discharging a firearm in Baltimore City, carrying a handgun within 100 yards of the public and illegal possession of ammunition in connection to an April 15 incident

Edwards and his attorney rejected a plea deal from the prosecution. The offer for attempted first-degree murder was for 50 years, suspending all but 25 years; for firearm use in a felony violent crime, a concurrent sentence of eight years, the first five without the possibility of parole. For conspiracy to use a firearm in a felony violent crime was a concurrent sentence of five years without the possibility of parole, Edwards would have been required to serve five years of supervised probation, register as a gun offender and stay away from the victim and witnesses upon release.
