On Oct. 6 Ricky Darnell Crenshaw, 47, appeared before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn in a reception court hearing to schedule his trial date for a March murder.
Crenshaw was charged with first-degree murder, firearm use in a felony violent crime, firearm possession with a felony conviction, possession of an assault weapon and the possession of a firearm without a serial number.
Defense attorney Brandon Patterson stated that he was not available until January for trial.
The prosecution has yet to make a plea offer, but stated that one can be expected in the coming weeks.
According to District Court of Maryland documents, on March 22, Baltimore City Police Department officers (BPD) identified a car that matched the one seen in the murder of 33-year-old Terence Cheatham on the 2100 block of Edmondson Avenue the day before.
Surveillance camera footage revealed the car allegedly belonged to Crenshaw. Officers pulled the car over and searched the vehicle, allegedly finding several firearms in Crenshaw’s possession. He was arrested and charged with firearm offenses, later being charged with Cheatam’s murder.
Crenshaw’s trial is set to begin Jan. 26, 2024, with Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Lynn Stewart Mays expected to preside.
