On Sept. 15, a jury trial in a shooting case l before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Lawrence R. Daniels had to be rescheduled so the defense attorney could recover from surgery.

Michael Tomko stood in for his partner, Lawrence Rosenberg, who had emergency surgery two weeks ago, on behalf of 19-year-old defendant Trevon Moore. Tomko told Judge Daniels that Rosenberg will need another two weeks before he can be back in court.

In reception court, Tomko and the assistant state’s attorney assigned to the case could not agree on a trial date, so Judge Melissa M. Phinn continued the hearing to Oct. 13.

Moore is charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, firearm use in a felony violent crime, reckless endangerment, illegal possession of a regulated firearm, having a loaded handgun on his person, having a handgun on his person, having a handgun within 100 yards of the public, illegal possession of ammunition and discharging firearms in connection to a Jan. 24 incident that occurred on the 1200 block of West 36th Street.

According to documents from the District Court of Maryland, surveillance footage showed Moore shooting at parents and another student, who were entering the gym of the Roosevelt Park Recreation Center. Staff members told police the dispute was over an interaction with a female student.
