The woman charged with a 2023 attempted murder had her trial delayed because she did not have an attorney to represent her.
Defendant Breonna Wilson appeared before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn on Aug. 10. Defense attorney Brandon Mead represented Wilson at her bail review hearing but was never officially retained.
Judge Phinn continued the hearing to Oct. 10 to allow the defendant time to retain an attorney.
According to the Maryland Judiciary website, Wilson, 26, is charged with attempted first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, conspiracy to commit first- and second-degree assault, firearm use in a felony violent crime, conspiracy to use a firearm in a felony violent crime, two counts of having a loaded handgun in her vehicle, two counts of conspiracy to have a loaded handgun in her vehicle, two counts of having a handgun in her vehicle, two counts of having a handgun on a public road and accessory after the fact in connection to a Feb. 8 incident.
Wilson’s co-defendant Dontay Washington’s trial is scheduled for Dec. 19 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Yolanda A. Tanner.
Charging documents state that officers responded to the unit block of South Poppleton Street where they found the victim in a 2018 gray Ford Escape. The victim told officers that a black male who she didn’t know shot at her.
A witness was able to identify co-defendant Washington as the one who shot at the victim. The witness then identified Wilson as the orchestrator of the incident. The witness stated that the defendant was driver of the car that the shooter entered.
The defendant and co-defendant can be heard discussing the “weapon on a Feb. 17 jail call.
