The Monday after Dashawn Raynard Carter was found guilty on all counts in a firearm and drug trafficking trial, he appeared again in court before Baltimore City Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn to schedule his trial for a February attempted murder.
With George Harris standing in for Carter’s attorney Augustine Okeke on Aug. 7, the parties agreed to begin the three-day trial on Oct. 11 before Judge M. Brooke Murdock.
Carter, 22, is charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder, first-degree assault, firearm use in the commission of a felony violent crime, firearm possession with a felony conviction, possession of a firearm in controlled dangerous substance offense, having a loaded handgun on his person, reckless endangerment and discharging firearms in connection to a Feb. 16, 2022 incident.
According to court documents, multiple people called 911 with reports of gunfire on the 1600 block of Mullikin Court on that day. When Baltimore Police Department officers arrived, they found the victim with several gunshot wounds to the torso.
The victim knew Carter as his assailant in a previous armed robbery and identified him to police while in the hospital.
