An attempted murder defendant rejected a plea offer in front of Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn on June 15 for a shooting that occurred in West Baltimore.
Jaleel Bradway and defense attorney Jason Silverstein, a stand-in for Marc Zayon, declined an offer of 25 years, suspending all but 14 for first-degree assault and an additional 20 years, suspending all but five without the possibility of parole, with five years supervised probation for firearm use in a violent crime. The sentences would have been served consecutively.
The 29-year-old defendant also would have been required to register as a gun offender and comply with the victim’s no-contact order in connection with the Oct. 29, 2022, incident.
According to court documents, Bradway is accused of shooting a victim known to him after an argument escalated on the 4000 block of Benzinger Road. A witness tried to intervene after he heard the gunshot. Bradway reportedly pointed his gun at the witness and struck him with his hand.
A photographic array compiled by investigators and witness testimonies revealed the accused perpetrator as Bradway.
As stated on the Maryland Judiciary website, Bradway is charged with two counts of first-degree assault, two counts of second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, firearm use in violent crime, and the discharge of a firearm.
