Homicide defendant Anthya Barnett was scheduled to appear in Baltimore City Circuit Court’s mental health court on Jan. 4, but had her case postponed six months.
The 26-year-old defendant was previously found incompetent to stand trial in June 2022 for the murder of a child on April 8, 2022, on the 4700 block of Vancouver Road. According to WBAL-TV, the Baltimore City firefighters were called to the home where they put out a mattress fire and then found the child’s body.
The case was canceled on Wednesday for reasons unknown to Baltimore Witness and is now scheduled for June 7.
Barnett is currently facing charges of first-degree murder, first-degree arson, and first-degree child abuse resulting in death. No defense attorney is listed to represent Barnett on the Maryland Judiciary website.
