Judge Schedules Trial for Defendant Charged with Accessory in 2022 Murder

On Feb. 28, a Baltimore man charged as an accessory to murder received a new trial date during his reception court hearing before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa Phinn

During Tuesday’s hearing, defendant Morgan Reed rejected a plea of 20 years for witness intimidation; and a concurrent plea of 10 years for accessory after the fact to first-degree murder.

Andre Mahasa, who stood in as defense counsel, informed the court that Maureen O’Leary, who represents the defendant, was unable to move forward with day one of trial due to health reasons related to Covid.

Reed, 41, is charged with one count each of accessory after the fact to first and second-degree murder and one count of witness intimidation in connection with the fatal shooting of 31-year-old James Moore on Jan. 31, 2022.

Judge Phinn scheduled the defendant’s trial date for Aug. 9 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Jeannie J. Hong.
