A man facing assault charges had his trial date scheduled before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn on March 7.
On Tuesday, defendant Bobby Trujillo rejected a plea of 25 years, suspending all but fifteen years with five years of supervised probation for first-degree assault; a 25 year sentence, suspending all but time served for first-degree assault; an additional 20 years sentence, suspending all but five years without the possibility of parole. All sentences were set to run consecutively. The defendant would have also been required to stay away from the two victims and register as a gun offender.
Trujillo, 62, is charged with two counts each of first and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, having a deadly weapon with the intent to injure, two counts of using a firearm in a felony violent crime, and discharging firearms in connection to a shooting that occurred on Aug. 29, 2022.
According to the Baltimore Police Department (BPD), Trujillo was charged in connection to the non-fatal shooting of a 66-year-old man on the 1600 block of Light Street
Judge Phinn scheduled the defendant’s trial to begin exactly a year after the shooting on Aug. 29 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Martin P. Welch. It is expected to last three days.
