Circuit Court Judge Postpones Mental Health Hearing for Man Charged in Non-Fatal Shooting

Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Gale E. Rasin postponed a non-fatal shooting defendant’s mental health hearing on Jan. 4 due to the defendant having not been evaluated by the Maryland Department of Health.

Judge Rasin informed the court that the Maryland Department of Health requested a 30-day mental evaluation extension for defendant Marlon Veney

Veney, 29, is charged with possessing a rifle or shotgun with a felony conviction, unlawful use of a livestock motor vehicle, reckless endangerment, discharging firearms, illegal possession of ammo, and two counts of a traffic violation in connection to an incident on Jan. 15, 2022.

According to court documents, on the day of the incident, officers were called to the area of Waterview Avenue and Annapolis Road for reports of a two vehicle accident. A 911 caller told a dispatcher that one of the drivers involved in the car accident, later identified as the defendant, exited the vehicle discharging a firearm at oncoming traffic.

Veney’s next hearing is scheduled for Feb. 1.
