Central District homicide investigators with the Baltimore Police Department (BPD) have been summoned and assumed control over the investigation of a shooting which occurred on Jan 28.
On Saturday, at approximately 6:39 p.m., Central District officers responded to the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and Laurens Street in reference to a ShotSpotter alert.
Once there, officers located a 43-year-old Gerald Fowlkes, a 65-year-old male and a 23-year-old Maya Morton, all of whom were suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Medics transported the victims to area hospitals, where the Fowlkes was pronounced deceased. Morton died from her injuries on Jan. 30. The 65-year-old male was treated and released.
Two additional victims, a three-year-old male toddler and one-year-old male infant, were injured as a result of the vehicle collision that occurred when the driver was shot. Both children are listed to be in critical condition.
After medical treatment, doctors determined that the children did not sustain gunshot wound injuries. Both victims sustained head trauma and lacerations, as a result of the vehicle collision that occurred when the driver was shot.
An additional victim, a six-year-old male, was injured in a car accident, following the shooting.
