A Baltimore City Circuit Court judge scheduled a 27-year-old homicide defendant for trial in May 2023 in connection to a double shooting earlier this year.

According to the Baltimore Police Department, Robert Carter, 33, and Kennard Wilds, 27, were at a gas station on the 3300 block of Garrison Boulevard, where Lamarr Candia allegedly shot and killed them on April 29.

On Dec. 6, the prosecution informed Judge Melissa Phinn that there was currently no plea offer on the table. Candia maintained his Hick’s date—a defendant’s right to be tried within 180 days of his or his attorney’s first court appearance—however, Judge Phinn found cause to schedule his trial past his Hick’s on May 17, 2023, before Judge Cynthia Jones.

Candia, who is represented by Robert Ness, is charged with four counts of first-degree murder in addition to murder conspiracy, assault, and firearms charges.
