On Oct. 4, Baltimore Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn scheduled a trial date for a 41-year-old Baltimore man charged with murder. His trial will happen next year.
Michael Robertson is charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of second-degree murder in connection to an incident on May 3, 2017.
According to the State’s Attorney’s Office, on May 7, 2017, Akia Shawnta Eggleston, 22, was reported missing by family members after she failed to appear at her baby shower. Robertson was the alleged father of Ms. Eggleston’s unborn baby. Eggleston believed the two were moving in together with plans to start a life with their child.
Robertson misled Eggleston into believing that they were moving in together with plans to start a life together, prosecution said.
Robertson remains in jail in Michigan. There has not been extradition set for the defendant, the defense said.
The prosecutor also informed told Judge Phinn that there was no plea offer. The prosecution wants to proceed to trial in July of 2023.
The defendant is scheduled for trial on July 10, 2023. The trial is expected to last for three weeks.
