A 40-year-old Baltimore man charged with murder had his case nolle pros by the prosecutor on Sept. 28 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Charles Bloomquist.
Christopher Thornton was charged with first-degree murder, use of a firearm during a felony violent crime, possession of a firearm with a felony conviction, and having a handgun on his person in connection to an incident on Sept. 27, 2021.
According to a news release, officers were called to the 1800 block of N. Chapel Street for reports of a shooting. Once they arrived, police found the body of 42-year-old Daevon Lee multiple times in the head.
Due to being unable to locate the witness, the prosecutor entered a nolle pros for four out of the five charges against the defendant including: first-degree murder, use of a firearm during a felony violent crime, possession of a firearm with a felony conviction, and having a handgun on his person.
The prosecutor also offered the defendant a plea of 20 years for possession of narcotics with the intent to distribute, however, the defendant and his defense counsel Marc Zayon, rejected the plea.
On Friday, jury selection began for Thornton’s trial for the charge of possession with intent to distribute narcotics.
