Homicide defendant Demetrick Lewis and his attorney Brandon Patterson rejected a plea of life on Aug. 11, during a reception court before Baltimore City Circuit Court  Judge Melissa K. Copeland

Lewis, 31, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of his 33-year-old female cousin last February. She died from an injury to the head after allegedly being pushed down the stairs.

Lewis’ Hick’s date, which is his right to be tried within 180 days of his or his attorney’s first court appearance, ends on Sept. 4. However, due to scheduling conflicts for the prosecution and delays with the autopsy report, Judge Copeland found reason to postpone the trial.

The trial is scheduled to begin on Feb. 13, 2023.
