According to a news release, from Friday, Aug. 5, 2022, through Sunday, Aug. 7, Baltimore City experienced nine shooting incidents involving three homicide victims and eight non-fatal shooting victims. There were also 21 confirmed robberies.
In that same time span, officers made more than 60 arrests to include two attempted murder arrests, 32 aggravated assault arrests, 12 handgun violation arrests, one robbery arrest, four narcotics arrests and a stolen auto arrest. Additionally, two handgun violation warrants and five robbery warrants were issued. One murder warrant and one handgun violation warrant were served.
“Unfortunately, this weekend we had two incidents in which juveniles accidentally fired weapons. One incident resulted in the avoidable and tragic death of a young lady,” said Commissioner Harrison. “This is another reminder that we must change the culture that makes it all too easy for our children to have access to deadly weapons. The Department continues to work to remove illegal guns from our streets and have seized more than 1,560 guns so far this year (a 13% increase).”
There were no notable incidents at this weekend’s Moonrise Festival at Pimlico Race Course.

*Note: In reference to the shooting of the 14-year-old male that occurred on Aug. 6 in the 600 block of McCabe Avenue, that incident has been determined to be self-inflicted.
