A Baltimore woman was shot in the chest during a robbery on July 2, according to the Baltimore Police Department.

Officers were called to the 5800 block of Eastern Avenue around 4:08 a.m. to investigate a shooting, where they found the 53-year-old female victim suffering a non-fatal gunshot wound to the chest.

The victim was transported to the hospital in stable condition.

A preliminary investigation revealed that a suspect, described as either a Hispanic or light-skinned Black male in a black jacket and sweatpants, attempted to rob a business when an employee, the victim, intervened and was shot.
