A murder defendant’s case was not called during reception court on Feb. 22 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Melissa M. Phinn.
Corey Pointer, 25, is charged with attempted first and second-degree murder, first-degree assault, reckless endangerment, armed robbery, robbery, theft between $1,500 to under $25,000, use of a firearm during a violent crime, having a handgun on his person, discharging firearms, CDS possession with intent to distribute, and firearm/drug trafficking crime in connection to an incident on March 22, 2021.
The trial was slated to begin on Feb. 22 but was postponed due to the suspension of jury selection with the rise of COVID-19 cases.
Pointer was represented by defense attorney Lawrence Rosenberg.
According to court documents, Pointer is accused of shooting a woman who allegedly owed him $40 on the 500 block of Normandy Avenue. The victim walked away after an argument with Pointer when he allegedly stole her backpack and fired a gun.
According to the Maryland’s Judiciary website, Pointer’s next hearing is scheduled for July 21.
