24-Year-Old Man Accused of Attempted Murder Denied Bail

A Baltimore man accused of attempted murder was denied bail on Feb. 22 before Baltimore City Circuit Court Judge Jeannie Hong.

Lyndon Pettiford, 24 is charged with attempted first and second-degree murder, first and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, use of a firearm during a violent crime, possession of a firearm with a felony conviction, carrying/wearing a handgun on his person, having a loaded handgun on his person, having a handgun in a vehicle, and illegal possession of ammo in connection to an incident on Feb. 22, 2021. 

During a bail hearing on Tuesday, Judge Hong listened as the prosecutor informed the court that the defendant should be held without bail because the defendant poses a threat to public safety and the victim.

Pettiford’s defense attorney, Howard Cardin, argued that the defendant has a serious medical condition that is not being treated properly in jail.

Cardin also noted that the defendant is not a danger to the public nor the victim. The defendant is not on parole or probation and is a married father with two children.

In addition, Cardin recommends home detention in order to address his medical needs and to help his mother and fiance with the children.

After listening to counsel, Judge Hong denied bail.

Pettiford’s next hearing is scheduled for May 4.
